Raids / Titan: Bombs and Rotation
« on: February 11, 2015, 07:29:56 am »
Tit said he wanted people to see it, so I figured I'd just make a new thread = P

Titan's rotation is here: http://i.imgur.com/fEDFawI.png

People were having issues and had questions about bombs, so:

The first bombs drop in phase 2, and only take up 2/3 of the arena. Easy.

The second set of bombs is during the heart phase, and drop in a spiral.  Ideally, you will see which one falls first, as that will become the safe spot. Stand in the middle until the first one explodes, then run to the newly opened gap. Still relatively simple.

I think it was the bombs in the final phase that were tripping people up the biggest.  The drop in sets: the first will be a set of four in a + shape, one at each point.  The second set is five in the inbetween points around the edge as well as the center. You can either stand in the middle until the "plus" ones blow up, however there is also a landslide that needs to be dodged, so it might be easier to stand on one of the "X" bombs, then rotate to a safe spot once it opens up.

Right at the beginning of this phase I think is where the team started to fall behind, just because you're dealing with adds, AND bombs, AND landslide all at once.

The second bombs in the final phase just drop in columns, stand by whichever dropped last and move in to the safe spot.

Then there's the final set, which drops all bombs at the same time. DPS needs to immediately switch to the back bomb, and destroy it to create a safe spot.

Easier said than done = P

I think people also just need to know how bombs work, I'm pretty sure that some people were just confused by them so:

The first bombs drop in phase 2, and only take up 2/3 of the arena. Easy.

The second set of bombs is during the heart phase, and drop in a spiral.  Ideally, you will see which one falls first, as that will become the safe spot. Stand in the middle until the first one explodes, then run to the newly opened gap. Still relatively simple.

I know some people had questions, so hopefully that helps = X

I don't know how far everyone made it in previous attempts at titan, but last night was honestly pretty solid.  After 2 hours though, people just get tired = P Personally, I was rather proud of myself, I was getting pretty good at timing my Medica so it would go off after his sumo stomp, AS everyone was getting knocked back. Quite satisfying ^^

I was curious how people felt about solo vs. dual tanking. We handled mountain buster fairly well with one tank, I thought, but a second tank seemed like it made the add phase slightly less crazy, and with all that goes on in that phase, I think every little bit helps.  It didn't really seem like we were having DPS speed issues, mostly it just seemed like problems came late in the fight when people are dealing with bombs, and landslides, and adds, and plumes NO WAIT DOUBLE PLUMES **** WHERE THE **** DO I STAND ON THIS TINY ASS ROCK?!

Thoughts?

Any idea what time you all were planning on running the primals? I can make sure I'm available so I can get in on the action  ;D

I would love it if we could get together a full party to do Ramuh Ex.  Surely there would be enough people who are either up for the challenge, need the clear, or want in on that sweet pony action.

I know people were planning on doing T9 this weekend, so I dunno when people would feel like taking this on, but I think it would be a hell of a lot of fun come together and kick the lord of levin in the teeth  ;D

Who among you will accept the challenge?!

I'm assuming that you are a Conjurer, correct? Healing with that class pre-50 is quite an interesting challenge, because alot of your best skills don't come until later (Regen is 35, Medica 2 is 50, your ONE ability to regenerate MP doesn't come until 38, etc.)  It probably does feel alot like you're just spamming cure, because you don't have your whole tool belt yet.

As for dodging, that comes with time, you'll get used to the pace of different battles and get a feel for when to move. You'll also learn that there are times where even if you take a big hit, you'll know that you're not in danger of taking any more immediate damage, and can heal the tank first, before topping yourself off.

Keep it up and you'll develop your healer spidey-sense in no time. = )

Had someone like that in Ramuh ex who wanted to be kicked so he didn't get the penalty, but we refused and made him suffer through the whole fight = D And of course even when he wasn't being a troll, he still died more than anyone else.

Yeah, but the buff is party wide, It's like Xande's circles, if everyone doesn't have it, it does more damage to the raid.

So basically, it was totally your fault, and not the fact that the DPS were standing in the middle of the arena getting AOE'd to death.

Playing with people with a good attitude makes all the difference, particularly on the really challenging fights like Mog ex or Ramuh ex. I got lucky in DF w/ Mog, but w/ Ramuh, I've seen people just be super nasty.

Maybe it's that goddamn music that keeps people relatively cheerful, hah!

I must say, I quite enjoyed my time getting repeatedly murdered by fluffy woodland creatures with you guys.

As obnoxious as that fight is, I find I appreciate the design of it, since it puts a lot of responsibility on each role:

Tanks have to swap back and forth, while making sure that the king isn't buffing the wrong moogles, healers have to be lightning fast on removing bemoggled (which most of the time I can only get one off before moggle go round hits) as well as the charm, while also making sure that they're positioned so that both healers don't get charmed at the same time.  All the while, DPS controls the pace of the fight, having to dps everything down without killing it, while also interrupting Holy and Flare, and then pushing phases at the right time.

DPS has to also not die, I think that was a big road block for us, heh.

Regardless, it was fun times = )
