Macros/Playstyles/Character Tips / Need help with low level healing (Pre-50)

Okay, since I'm being shoehorned into doing dungeons (in the case of Ifrit's case in a literal sense), I'm going to need some help.
It took me five times to get this Primal defeated on normal mode; and I understand that it was the group problem and not just mine but I get the nagging feeling that I'm going to have to improve.
First off, when the AoE in the first half of the battle, should I have stayed in place instead of moving at all? It felt like even when I moved from the radius I would get hit with the blast and it kept me from healing the tank.
Second, should I as the healer just spam heal 100% of the time or is there a point in time during the first part of this game that I'm going to have to change that tactic?
Third, since I'm terrible at macros, what would be a good alternative such as keybinding for targetting and just heals (assuming that's what I will be doing all the time)?
